Joyul is an artist based in Seoul, who's dedicated to expanding the sonic possibilities within her work. With a mission to push the boundaries of sound, she transforms the auditory landscapes created by instruments like vocals, electric guitars, and daxophones, thereby establishing fresh sonic narratives. By concentrating on the paths sound forges and the sensory experiences of navigating those auditory avenues, her improvisational performances serve as a means to reconstruct time and space in a unique manner.
Drawing inspiration from SCOPES Seoul’s venue, Joyul revisits her album "Earwitness." This album weaves together sounds gathered from diverse sources, creating a harmonious blend without hierarchy, presenting listeners with novel auditory landscapes. In this performance, centered around the theme of amplifying movements, she presents a performance utilizing fabrics and sound objects. As the performer grasps the long fabric adorned with sound objects and creates friction sounds against the floor, the audience simultaneously experiences the performer's moving body and the amplifying sound. From the starting point to the culmination on stage, various sounds generated during the journey fill the space, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the evolving landscape.
